Cavotec to supply iron ore handling equipment to Port Hedland

Tuesday, Sep 29, 2009

CAVOTEC will be supplying a range of iron ore handling equipment to ThyssenKrupp for installation on iron ore ship-loaders at Port Hedland. Cavotec will supply advanced cable reels, Brieda operator cabins and consoles, Cavotec Micro-control radio remote control systems and Brevetti steel slew chain technologies to the ThyssenKrupp Group. According to Cavotec, this iron ore handling equipment contract is a wide-ranging and complex order which unites its expertise in cable reels, cabin and console technologies, radio remote control units and steel chain engineering. The equipment will be delivered to China in 2010, where it will be installed on the four new iron ore ship-loaders bound for Port Hedland in Western Australia.

Cavotec says the equipment will be delivered within specifications, because machinery used at Port Hedland’s iron ore handling facility needs to withstand the uniquely abrasive and viscous nature of iron ore dust.
